This bill mandates that all individual and group health insurance policies, as well as other health service plans and organizations, delivered, issued for delivery, amended, or renewed on or after January 1, 2027, must cover the diagnosis and prescribed treatment for Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS), which are serious neurological and behavioral conditions that can affect children. The bill also requires the Kansas state employees health care commission to provide coverage for PANS and PANDAS for the health plan year starting January 1, 2027, and to report on the impact and costs of this coverage by March 1, 2027, with the legislature then able to consider making this coverage a permanent requirement for all health insurance policies in the state starting January 1, 2027.
