This bill requires peace officers, meaning federal, state, or local officers vested with the duty to maintain public peace, to carry and present identifying credentials, including their name, rank, and agency, to the public upon request when on duty or interacting with the public, and to display their name, badge number, rank, and agency on their outermost clothing, while generally prohibiting them from concealing their identity or agency name, with specific exceptions for undercover operations sanctioned by their agency, special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team responsibilities, and explosive disposal operations; a "face covering" is defined as anything that conceals facial features, with exceptions for medical masks or respirators during declared wildfire emergencies; violating these provisions constitutes a misdemeanor, and the bill declares an emergency to allow it to take effect immediately for the public peace, health, and safety.
