This bill authorizes the board of trustees of the Clearwater cemetery district in Sedgwick County, Kansas, to reorganize the district by removing Ohio Township. This reorganization will be formalized through a resolution adopted by a majority vote of the trustees and will become effective on January 1, 2026. Following the reorganization, the district's board of trustees will consist of three members: the mayor of Clearwater, the trustee of Ninnescah Township, and one at-large member elected by the board of trustees at their next meeting after the resolution is adopted. This at-large member, who can reside in either the city of Clearwater or Ninnescah Township, will represent the entire district and will be subject to election by the district's voters on a nonpartisan basis starting with the 2026 general election and every four years thereafter. The bill also allows Ohio Township and the reorganized Clearwater cemetery district to enter into an interlocal cooperation agreement for cemetery care and the sharing of tax funds.
