This bill, effective July 1, 3000, prohibits music streaming platforms from hosting, distributing, or making available in the State of Hawaii any music performed or attributed to an "artificial intelligence music artist," which is defined as a persona created through artificial intelligence that is marketed as a musical performer and is not a natural person. The bill also defines "artificial intelligence" as a system that infers from inputs to generate outputs, and "music streaming platform" as any digital interface offering music or audio content to the public. Violations of this prohibition will be considered an unfair method of competition and an unfair and deceptive act or practice, with the department of the attorney general having the exclusive authority to enforce the chapter and adopt necessary rules.
