The committee, composed of 20 members including legislative appointees, state agency commissioners (from Human Services, Community Health, Juvenile Justice, and Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities), judicial representatives, and a representative from Together Georgia, will study the current foster care system, its costs, and related issues to recommend actions or legislation for better resource utilization and improved outcomes for children, with the committee set to be abolished on December 1, 2026.
