AI Summary

This bill proposes to repeal the "Georgia Promise Scholarship Act," a program that, during the 2025-2026 school year, provided up to $6,500.00 in state funds to students for qualified education expenses, such as private school tuition. Before this repeal takes effect, an advisory referendum election will be held in November 2026, allowing Georgia's voters to decide if they want the Act repealed. The bill also clarifies that the General Assembly retains control over future appropriations and the use of state funds for education, including for qualified education expenses, and that the subject matter may be subject to further legislative review. The repeal of the Act itself is set to become effective on June 30, 2027, and will apply to school years beginning with the 2027-2028 school year.
