This bill modifies the Community College Facilities Renewal Grant Program by removing a previous cost limit for eligible projects, which are defined as facility improvements, repairs, and deferred maintenance. It also establishes a new funding requirement: if the Governor appropriates less than $80,000,000 to the Community College Construction Grant Program in a given fiscal year, the Governor must then appropriate the difference between $80,000,000 and the actual amount appropriated to the Community College Facilities Renewal Grant Program. Additionally, the bill doubles the number of grants the Maryland Higher Education Commission can award annually, from eight to sixteen, and clarifies that grant funds shall be awarded equally to each eligible community college in a fiscal year.
