This resolution formally acknowledges the passing of Paul Gandy Lankford on May 7, 2025, celebrating his significant contributions as an educator and community leader in Virginia Beach. Mr. Lankford, who began his teaching career after graduating from The College of William & Mary, spent over 40 years in education, notably at Bayside High School, Green Run High School, and Cape Henry Collegiate School, where he was known for his passionate teaching, ability to connect with students, and engaging classroom style that included teaching life skills. He also held leadership positions within the National Council of Teachers of English and the Virginia Association of Teachers of English Language Arts, and was an active volunteer for organizations like the Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control and the historic Francis Land House, as well as a Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. The resolution expresses the House of Delegates' deep sorrow at his loss and directs the Clerk to provide a copy of this resolution to his family as a token of respect for his memory.
