This bill allows a county board of education that is part of a multicounty vocational center to decide to offer a career technical education program at its local high school instead of solely relying on the multicounty center. This local program can be either a state-approved program of study, which must meet federal requirements under 20 U.S.C. §2342, or a program developed by the county itself. The bill also makes changes to how comprehensive high schools are planned and funded, specifically stating that a county served by a multicounty vocational technical facility is not required to include a comprehensive vocational facility in its own high school construction plans, and if it does, it can include career education secondary offerings and community and technical college education.
