This bill authorizes the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri to own or operate health care facilities, including hospitals and medical providers, and to acquire entities or assets involved in providing health care services. Importantly, it also grants immunity from federal and state antitrust laws, which are laws designed to prevent monopolies and promote fair competition, for the University of Missouri's curators and their collaborators in twenty-five specific counties: Adair, Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Howard, Linn, Macon, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Osage, Pettis, Phelps, Pike, Pulaski, Randolph, and Saline. This provision aims to protect the University's health care ventures from legal challenges related to competition within these designated areas.
