The bill defines an eligible preschool student as a student who is eligible to enroll in a free preschool program through the resident school district pursuant to the "School Funding Reform Act of 2008," and who resides in a school district that is classified as a child care desert. The preschool education voucher would be in an amount equal to the applicable per pupil State preschool education aid amount. The voucher may be used to pay for the cost of tuition and fees at a private preschool or licensed child care center, or the cost of materials used to homeschool the student. The voucher may also be deposited in a New Jersey Better Educational Savings Trust account.
