Bill Summary

This bill prohibits any person holding an administrative position in a Type II school district from making campaign contributions, directly or through a family member, to a candidate for election to the office of member of the board of education of that district which exceed in the aggregate $100 per election. The bill also provides that if a person, or the family member of a person, makes campaign contributions to a candidate for election to the office of member of the board of education of a Type II school district which exceed in the aggregate $100, the person shall be ineligible to be appointed to an administrative position in that school district for a period of two years following the date on which the last such contribution with respect to that election is paid or made.

AI Summary

This bill aims to prevent conflicts of interest in Type II school districts, which are public school districts that operate under a board of education and a superintendent. Specifically, it prohibits administrators of these districts, along with their immediate family members residing in their household, from contributing more than $100 in total per election to candidates running for the district's school board. Furthermore, any individual who, or whose family member, makes campaign contributions exceeding $100 to a school board candidate in a Type II district will be barred from being appointed to an administrative position in that district for two years after the last contribution was made. The bill defines "administrator" according to existing law and clarifies that terms like "candidate" and "candidate committee" are also defined by established election law.
