Current law states that the policies prohibiting harassment, intimidation and bullying adopted by school districts apply to actions that take place on school property, at school-sponsored functions or on school buses, but does not expressly state which individuals are subject to the policies. This bill provides clarification that policies prohibiting harassment, intimidation or bullying adopted by school districts are applicable to members of the school board, employees of the school, contracted service providers having contact with students, students and school volunteers, including athletic coaches, assistant coaches, trainers and any other individual in a position of authority affiliated with a school athletic program.
