This resolution establishes a permanent legislative commission on climate change impacts and solutions, comprised of eighteen members representing various legislative, governmental, academic, and industry sectors, with the purpose of continuously studying the effects of climate change on Rhode Island, such as sea level rise, flooding, and erosion, and exploring potential solutions like beach nourishment, green infrastructure, and managed retreat policies, while also examining funding mechanisms and administrative organization to address these challenges, and the commission is mandated to hold public hearings, gather stakeholder input, and analyze the economic, environmental, and social implications of proposed strategies, with all state departments and agencies required to provide necessary information and the Speaker of the House authorized to provide office space.
