Bill Summary

This bill provides that an organ donor designation on a driver's permit, driver's license, or identification card is to remain upon the renewal of the permit, license, or identification card, and upon the subsequent issuance of a license or identification card to the person. The Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission is required to provide an opportunity to remove the organ donor designation upon renewal of the permit, license, or identification card and subsequent issuance of a license or identification card to the person. Currently, a person is required to confirm the person's organ donor designation at each license or identification card renewal.

AI Summary

This bill ensures that if you are an organ donor when you get your driver's permit, license, or identification card in New Jersey, that designation will automatically carry over when you renew these documents or get a new one, without you having to reconfirm it each time. Currently, individuals must actively reconfirm their organ donor status at every renewal. However, the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will still provide an opportunity for individuals to remove their organ donor designation during the renewal or issuance process if they choose to do so.
