Bill Summary

This bill requires each county prosecutor to provide to the Attorney General data pertaining to criminal complaints concerning crimes, or in the case of a juvenile, an act which if committed by an adult would constitute a crime, involving the use of a firearm that did not result in bodily injury. In addition, the bill requires each county prosecutor to report this data to the Attorney General every quarter for three years in a manner prescribed by the Attorney General. At the end of the three years, the Attorney General is to submit a report to the Governor and the Legislature and publish the report on the Internet website of the Department of Law and Public Safety.

AI Summary

This bill requires county prosecutors to collect and report specific data to the Attorney General regarding crimes involving the use of a firearm that do not result in bodily injury, meaning no physical harm was sustained by any person. This data includes details like complaint numbers, incident dates and locations, charges filed, and whether the firearm was used legally or illegally, regardless of the case's final outcome. These reports must be submitted quarterly for three years, with the Attorney General then compiling this information into a report for the Governor and Legislature, and making it publicly available online.
