Bill Summary

This bill permits the holders of plenary, farm, and Out-of-State winery licenses to operate salesrooms jointly. Current law permits plenary, farm, and Out-of-State winery licensees to operate salesrooms off the winery premises for consumption on or off-site. Plenary and farm licensees may have 15 salesrooms in addition to the winery premises and Out-of-State winery licensees are permitted to have 16 salesrooms as they do not have a winery premises within the State. Under the current law, salesrooms are not permitted to be jointly held by licensees. This bill provides that the holders of plenary, farm, and Out-of-State winery licenses may jointly hold salesrooms so that a salesroom may sell a variety of wines at a single location.

AI Summary

This bill amends existing New Jersey law to allow holders of plenary winery licenses, farm winery licenses, and Out-of-State winery licenses to jointly operate salesrooms. Previously, these licensees could operate their own individual salesrooms off their winery premises for on-site or off-site consumption, with specific limits on the number of salesrooms allowed per license type (15 for plenary and farm wineries, 16 for Out-of-State wineries). This change permits these different types of wineries to share a single salesroom location, enabling them to offer a variety of wines from multiple producers in one place.
