AI Summary
This bill aims to simplify and consolidate regulations regarding epinephrine, a medication used to treat life-threatening allergic reactions, in Georgia schools. It replaces the term "auto-injectable epinephrine" with the simpler term "epinephrine" throughout relevant laws. Key provisions include allowing students to carry and self-administer their prescribed epinephrine with parental and physician consent, authorizing schools to store epinephrine for students unable to self-administer, and empowering designated school employees to administer epinephrine in emergencies, with protections against civil liability for good-faith actions. The bill also clarifies that licensed healthcare professionals can prescribe epinephrine for schools and that pharmacists can dispense it, and it mandates the State Board of Education to adopt regulations for implementation by July 1, 2026.
