This bill allows members of the Foreign Service and their spouses, who relocate to Maryland due to an assignment or detail, to practice their profession in the state using their existing occupational or professional license from another state for the duration of their assignment, provided they meet certain conditions such as providing proof of assignment, maintaining good standing with their licensing authority, actively using their license for at least two years prior to relocation, and adhering to the standards of practice and continuing education requirements of Maryland. The bill also clarifies that these individuals can practice within the scope of their existing license and are not required to obtain a Maryland license unless they wish to practice in a different field or with a broader scope, and they will be subject to the same disciplinary actions as licensed professionals in Maryland.
