Bill Summary

This bill relates to the reimbursement of security expenses for members of the general assembly and statewide elected officials. The bill entitles the members of the general assembly, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, auditor of state, treasurer of state, secretary of agriculture, and attorney general to a one-time reimbursement of up to $5,000 for the installation of a home security system and up to $100 per month for the operation of a home security system. The bill requires members of the general assembly and statewide elected officials to submit receipts for reimbursement. Pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Iowa, the provision allowing members of the general assembly to receive reimbursement applies upon the convening of the 92nd General Assembly in January 2027.
