This bill mandates that health insurers, including those providing coverage through the Oregon Educators Benefit Board (OEBB) and the Public Employees’ Benefit Board (PEBB), must cover cervical cancer screenings and necessary follow-up examinations without charging patients deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, or other out-of-pocket costs. Cervical cancer screenings are defined as preventive health services recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force or the Health Resources and Services Administration, aimed at detecting cervical cancer or precancerous conditions, and do not include treatment for diagnosed cancer. Follow-up examinations are defined as diagnostic tests needed after an abnormal screening result to fully assess for potential malignancy, also excluding treatment for diagnosed cancer, and can include procedures like colposcopy and biopsy. This provision applies to health benefit plans issued, renewed, or extended on or after the bill's effective date.
