This bill, by adding section 2940a to Michigan's Revised Judicature Act of 1961, provides immunity from nuisance claims to owners or operators of racing facilities and racetracks. However, this immunity does not exempt racing facilities from complying with state or federal environmental laws or health and safety regulations. For the purposes of this section, the "area of a racing facility or racetrack" is defined as a 5-mile radius from its property, and a "racing facility or racetrack" encompasses the track itself, spectator areas, garages, and any related grounds or buildings used for race operations.
