This bill, effective January 1, 2027, restricts the application of certain pesticides within 1,000 feet of any school in West Virginia, with distances measured from the closest property boundary of the school to the area being sprayed. The restricted pesticides include those containing paraquat or paraquat dichlorate, atrazine, dicamba, chlorpyrifos, 2,4-dichloroacetic acid (commonly known as 2,4-D), glyphosate, and perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are defined as a group of fluorinated chemicals with at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom.
