This bill mandates that school districts and charter schools in Missouri must provide students who are at least seventeen years and six months old with opportunities to register to vote. Specifically, these educational institutions are required to offer voter registration at least twice during each school year. One opportunity will be on the fourth Tuesday of September, or the next school day if that date falls on a weekend or holiday, allowing students to register during school hours. A second registration opportunity will be organized in coordination with the local election authority, occurring later in the school year. The Secretary of State will provide informational materials about voter registration for these events, and schools will need to report on their voter registration activities to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education by December 31st each year.
