This bill, amending Arizona Revised Statutes Title 15, Chapter 2, Article 1, adds a new section, 15-214.01, to establish certification requirements for private school teachers instructing students who are blind or visually impaired. Specifically, it mandates that these teachers must either hold a valid certification from a nationally or internationally recognized board or organization that certifies professionals working with blind or visually impaired individuals in education and rehabilitation, or successfully complete a university-level teacher preparation program that meets or exceeds the state board of education's standards for such specialized instruction. The state board of education is also authorized to create rules to implement these new requirements.
