This bill amends the Public Health Code to expand the Michigan Care Improvement Registry, which is a system for tracking immunizations, to also include the reporting of adverse events resulting from immunizing agents, which are defined as injuries reported by or diagnosed by a healthcare provider after receiving a vaccine. Starting January 1, 2027, healthcare providers will be required to report specific details about these adverse events to the department, including patient information, the vaccine administered, when and where it was given, the onset and symptoms of the adverse event, and its outcome. The bill also clarifies that while the registry will be expanded to include lead poisoning testing information, schools will not be granted access to this registry information.
