This bill amends existing Kentucky law (KRS 162.060) concerning the construction of new public school buildings. It requires school districts to notify the Transportation Cabinet before starting construction on a new school. The Transportation Cabinet then has 90 days to provide the chief state school officer, who is responsible for overseeing school construction plans, with a design and cost estimate for any new roads needed to access the school site, as well as identifying and estimating the costs for improvements to existing roads that will serve the school. This aims to ensure that necessary transportation infrastructure is planned and accounted for alongside the school construction itself.
