Provides that a violation of the provisions constitutes an unlawful practice within the meaning of the Act.

AI Summary

This bill amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to require transparency when artificial intelligence (AI), which is defined as having the meaning set forth in Section 2-101 of the Illinois Human Rights Act, is used in commercial interactions with consumers. Specifically, businesses cannot use AI to communicate with consumers in a way that might trick them into thinking they are talking to a human, unless they clearly and conspicuously inform the consumer they are interacting with AI. Furthermore, if AI is used to sell or offer goods and services, consumers must be notified and given the chance to ask for more details about how the AI is being used. Businesses employing AI for communication must also provide consumers with the option to speak with a human during regular business hours, without prohibiting such requests or charging extra for it, and any violation of these provisions will be considered an unlawful practice under the Act.
