The definition now explicitly includes fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances, such as illegal analogs and chemically similar substances, naming para-bromofentanyl, para-fluoroacetyl fentanyl, and para-methyl acetyl fentanyl as examples. This clarification is important because the bill also outlines enhanced prison sentences based on the amount of fentanyl possessed, ranging from three to five years in addition to the basic sentence for the trafficking offense, depending on whether the person possesses between one hundred and five hundred pills or between ten and fifty grams of fentanyl powder, or more than those amounts, or if they recruited others to traffic fentanyl.
