AI Summary

This bill revises Georgia's election laws to establish a uniform system of voting equipment across the state, shifting the responsibility for certifying and selecting this equipment from the Secretary of State to the State Election Board. The core change mandates that voting will primarily use hand-marked paper ballots that are also hand-counted at polling places, with provisions for electronic ballot marking devices to be available for voters with disabilities who cannot use hand-marked ballots. This new system, which must be procured from American-owned corporations with all components made in America and developed by American citizens, will also apply to municipal elections, and conforming changes are made regarding the scanning of absentee ballots. The bill also specifies that all tabulation, result publication, and voter authentication equipment must be incapable of remote access. This new system will take effect on January 1, 2027.
