AI Summary

This bill, known as the "Excellent Teacher Preparation Act," mandates that the Professional Standards Commission (PSC), which oversees educator certification in Georgia, develop and annually report specific performance measures for all Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs). EPPs are defined as any teacher or educator leadership programs approved by the PSC. These performance measures, to be developed by January 1, 2027, will evaluate the effectiveness of EPPs by focusing on the preparedness and performance of their graduates. Key data points will include enrollment numbers, graduation rates disaggregated by demographics and certification areas, passage rates on certification exams, job placement rates, and retention rates of graduates. The bill also requires satisfaction surveys for EPP graduates and their employers, and annual reviews of these surveys to ensure their accuracy. Furthermore, the Office of Student Achievement will incorporate a summary of these EPP performance measures into its annual report on the Georgia educator workforce, and the Board of Regents will review the performance of EPPs within the University System of Georgia to identify any necessary interventions or support. EPPs are required to provide all requested information to the PSC for the creation of these performance measures.
