This resolution congratulates Jeff and Jim Kochenderfer for being named West Virginia's Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year. Their work includes reclaiming old logging trails, improving access roads, protecting soil and water quality, and promoting long-term forest productivity. As professional foresters, Jim a retired Research Forester and Jeff a Silviculturalist, they are deeply committed to forestry excellence. Their tree farm serves as a demonstration of responsible forestry, focusing on sustainable management, wildlife habitat, and water resource protection. They have actively engaged in various management activities, including timber harvesting and herbicide application, and have generously shared their knowledge by hosting numerous tours and demonstrations for woodland owners, often in cooperation with West Virginia University Extension and other forestry organizations. Their contributions have been recognized in forestry publications, and they are active leaders in several prominent forestry associations, further underscoring their commitment to the forestry community. The resolution directs the Clerk to send a copy of this congratulatory message to Jeff and Jim Kochenderfer.
