This joint resolution commends Patrick Henry High School for receiving the 2025–2026 Purple Star Designation, an award recognizing schools in Virginia that are particularly supportive of students and families connected to the U.S. Armed Forces. The designation, given by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on the Educational Opportunity of Military Children, acknowledges the school's military-friendly practices and its dedication to military students and their families, which is especially important given that Hanover County Public Schools, of which Patrick Henry High School is a part, serves approximately 260 military-connected students. The resolution highlights the school's innovative "PHamily Advisory" program, which helps new military students integrate by connecting them with faculty, staff, and peers, and also notes the role of the Patrick Henry Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) program in supporting these students. This is not the first time Patrick Henry High School has received this honor, having been previously recognized in 2019 and 2022.
