This bill extends the expiration date, or "sunsetting," of "Don't Block the Box" automated traffic detection systems from January 15, 2027, to January 15, 2030. These systems are used by municipalities to monitor and detect violations of a specific traffic law, § 31-15-12.2, which prohibits blocking intersections. The bill also clarifies that after January 15, 2030, the authorization for these systems will cease unless further extended. The bill will become law immediately upon being passed.
