This bill establishes a special motor vehicle license plate to honor Governor Roger Williams, the first governor of what is now Rhode Island. The plate will feature the designation "Governor Roger Williams," a design chosen by the division of motor vehicles, and the state seal, and will be used in place of regular license plates. To obtain this commemorative plate, applicants must fill out a form provided by the administrator of the division of motor vehicles and pay the standard registration fee plus an additional $25 service charge and a $5 transfer charge. Of the additional fees, $15 will cover the costs of making and distributing the plates, with the rest going to the state's general fund. This new law will become effective six months after it is passed.
