This joint resolution establishes a Legislative Commission to Review the State Seal of Alaska, a joint commission of the Alaska State Legislature, to evaluate the current state seal, recommend changes to better reflect the state's history and contemporary values including those of Alaska Native cultures, and develop an educational program about the seal's history and meaning. The commission, composed of 14 members including legislators, the lieutenant governor, and representatives from various cultural, educational, and governmental organizations, as well as a high school student, will submit a report with its findings and recommendations to the legislature by May 14, 2027, and make it publicly available online. The commission will be supported by legislative staff, can accept grants and appropriations, and its members will serve without compensation but receive per diem and travel expenses, with the commission set to expire on May 14, 2027, unless extended.
