This bill transfers the regulatory authority over certain crematories and reduction facilities from the Office of Cemetery Oversight to the State Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors, effective July 1, 2026. It also modifies the conditions under which the Governor can remove a member of the Board, alters the definition of a quorum for Board meetings to a simple majority of the currently serving appointed members, and specifies that actions can be taken by a simple majority vote of that quorum. The bill also establishes a full-time inspector position for the Board starting in fiscal year 2028 and mandates the creation of a stakeholder workgroup to review relevant statutes and regulations, with a report due by December 31, 2026.
