This bill, titled the Community Health Workforce Development Act, amends the Public Health Service Act to establish an Advisory Committee on Training in Community Health Centers. This committee will consist of 15 members, appointed by the Secretary, who cannot be federal employees and must have experience working in health professions, including at least one patient of a community health center, with a balance of health professions, geographic representation, and urban/rural members. The committee will advise the Secretary on policy and program development for training in community health centers, develop performance measures and evaluation guidelines for these programs, meet at least twice a year, and make its agendas, meeting summaries, and actions publicly available. Members will be compensated and reimbursed for travel expenses, and the committee will be exempt from automatic termination under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Finally, the committee will submit annual reports to the Secretary and relevant congressional committees detailing its activities, findings, and recommendations on funding for training programs.
