This bill establishes the Mobile Career and Technical Education Classroom Program within the Department of Education to address the lack of equitable access to career training, arts education, and specialized instructional facilities in rural and coalfield counties, which often face challenges due to geography, transportation, and limited resources. The program will provide funds specifically for purchasing buses or vehicles that can be converted into mobile classrooms, as well as for their conversion, renovation, and equipping with necessary instructional equipment, technology, and safety features for career and technical education, workforce training, fine arts, and other approved specialized educational programs. Importantly, these funds cannot be used for standard school buses solely for transportation, and preference will be given to applications that involve collaboration between counties or municipalities and other public agencies like career and technical centers or workforce development entities.
