This bill prohibits individuals listed on the state sex offender database, convicted felons of sexual assault, or those convicted of abusing juveniles from entering school property or attending any public school activities and events, even if their own children are involved. A first violation of this prohibition is a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to six months in jail, while subsequent violations are felonies punishable by one to five years in prison. Furthermore, if a parent-teacher conference is necessary with someone on the sex offender database, it must be conducted remotely via telephone or video call, not in person on school grounds. The State Board of Education is authorized to create any necessary rules to implement these provisions.
