Previously, the law prohibited flashing red lights from being displayed on vehicles except for specific authorized emergency vehicles like fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, and school buses, and recovery or repair vehicles were explicitly forbidden from using red flashing lights. The bill removes the restriction that prevented recovery and repair vehicles from using red flashing lights while they are stopped on the highway and actively working to remove a disabled vehicle, but it clarifies that this permission does not extend to when these vehicles are traveling to or from the disabled vehicle's location or while towing it.
