This bill mandates that employees of health care institutions, including assisted living centers, nursing care institutions, and group homes, who provide direct care to patients or residents must complete a standardized form, which can be electronic, by the end of their shift to update critical resident information. This updated information must include the resident's name and date of birth, any advance directives like do not resuscitate orders or provider orders for life-sustaining treatment, and a release for sharing protected health information with third parties. It also requires the inclusion of current vital signs, recent lab results, a list of medications and allergies, the primary care provider's name, emergency contact or power of attorney, and the health care institution's point of contact. Additionally, the bill establishes a vulnerable adult system study committee to develop and implement a coordinated system for vulnerable adult services, research best practices, and make recommendations for improving statutes and rules governing these services, with a reporting requirement and a delayed repeal date.
