This bill requires membership associations in Arizona that receive more than half of their yearly income from dues paid by elected or appointed officials using public money to clearly display all their fees and annual membership costs on their website, promoting transparency about what public officials are paying for. It also states that if a public body, such as a city council or school board, decides to join a membership association, and an individual official on that body chooses not to join, then the public body cannot pay that official's individual dues to the association. For the purposes of this law, a "membership association" is defined as a nonprofit organization where most of its board members are officials who manage public entities in Arizona and that receives money through state legislative appropriations, but this definition specifically excludes labor unions.
