AI Summary

This bill mandates that the State Board of Education will provide links to resources, self-assessments, and best practices on its website to help educators and local policymakers prevent and address "secondary traumatic stress," which is defined as a disruptive set of symptoms that can arise from learning about the traumatic experiences of others, potentially leading to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and other negative effects. By January 1, 2028, every school district must implement policies and procedures that include a commitment to supporting mental health in the workplace, establish a district-wide workforce mental health committee (with at least half of its members from a union), regularly assess how these policies are being put into practice with input from staff, and provide necessary resources and training for ongoing improvement. These policies will also need to be periodically reviewed and updated.
