This bill amends Tennessee law concerning private security by adding stalking to the list of crimes that disqualify an individual from obtaining a security guard or officer registration if they have not completed their sentence or probation for at least five years, and also clarifies that reserve, part-time, or auxiliary officers must meet specific training requirements to be exempt from registration. It also introduces new disqualifications for individuals on abuse registries or subject to orders that prohibit firearm possession, and requires security guards and their employers to report arrests or convictions for certain offenses, as well as any circumstances affecting an armed guard's ability to carry a firearm, within ten days. Furthermore, the bill revises training requirements for certain law enforcement officers seeking security roles, updates the renewal period for proprietary security organization registrations to two years, and clarifies that municipalities and counties cannot impose additional permits or fees on licensed security businesses beyond a bona fide business tax or regulations for street patrol services. Finally, it prohibits security guards from misrepresenting themselves as law enforcement officers and allows for the review and approval of training by the commissioner.
