This bill amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 8-27-801, which defines who serves as "Trustees" for other post-employment benefits, which are benefits provided to employees after they have left their employment. The key change is that each of the four designated trustees – the commissioner of finance and administration, the chair of the senate finance, ways and means committee, the chair of the house committee with jurisdiction over finance matters, and the chair of the board of trustees for the Tennessee consolidated retirement system – will now be able to appoint a "designee" to act on their behalf if they are unable to attend meetings or perform their duties. This clarification ensures that the board of trustees can continue to function effectively even if one of its members is absent.
