This bill requires the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR), a state agency that studies issues affecting local governments, to conduct a comprehensive study and prepare a report on all marijuana-related arrests made in Tennessee between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2025. The report must include detailed demographic information about the individuals arrested, specifically their race, age, and gender, as well as the geographical location where each arrest occurred. TACIR is mandated to provide assistance from relevant state departments and agencies for this study and must submit its findings, along with any recommendations for legislative action, to the chairs of the House Judiciary Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Legislative Librarian by January 31, 2027, using only its existing resources.
