This bill revises the compensation for the Sheriff of Talladega County by establishing a new salary structure and repealing previous laws related to the sheriff's pay. Until January 18, 2027, the sheriff will continue to receive their current base annual salary as of May 31, 2025, and will also receive an additional annual expense allowance of $15,200.32, paid monthly from the county's general fund. Starting January 18, 2027, the sheriff's base annual salary will increase to $112,000, also paid monthly from the county general fund, at which point the previous salary and expense allowance will become void. The bill also repeals several previous acts that governed the sheriff's compensation in Talladega County, consolidating the rules into this new legislation, and it becomes effective immediately upon passage.
