This bill enacts Civil Code Article 688.1, which allows a landowner to trim branches or roots from a neighbor's trees, bushes, or plants that extend onto their property, but only after providing the neighbor with a thirty-day written notice sent via certified mail. This notice must clearly state the demand for removal and inform the neighbor that if they do not act within thirty days of the notice's delivery, the landowner will proceed with the trimming at their own expense. However, the landowner is liable for any damages caused to the neighbor's plants during this removal process.
