The DEQ will report the study's progress annually to the Select Water Committee from 2026 to 2030, and an appropriation of $8 million from the strategic investments and projects account is allocated to the Office of State Lands and Investments to cover study expenses, including the potential hiring of a consultant, with these funds available until June 30, 2030, and intended to be separate from the office's standard budget. This act will take effect on July 1, 2026.
